On a late autumn morning drive from Seward to Anchorage, I saw this pair of Trumpeter swans on Turn Lake (the "turn" off to Homer). Although it was mid-morning, it was a chilly 25 degrees Farenheit and the sun had barely risen over the cloudy sky and steep Fjords of the Kenai Peninsula. I shot this pair until my hands were frozen and returned to the hot chocolate waiting for me in my car! Upon my return from Anchorage several hours later, it was snowing and the swans were gone. No swans were seen again until the next summer.
