Overview
In the four-island region of Maui, Lanai, Molokai and Kahoolawe, a humpback whale sounds for a dive with the stunning backdrop of Kahoolawe island. The whale that sounded in this photograph was one of five whales engaged in a completitive battle. Presumably they were all males and seeking a female in the area as a mate. While they moved along at a good clip, they were head slapping and swiping flukes at eachother.
