Atlantic spotted dolphins look like bottlenose dolphins in their youth, like the younger animal pictured in the front/top right. The spots come with age, like the adult in the center/lower left. The groups of this species studied in the area off of Little Bahama Banks, a 60-mile stretch of sand in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, are well known and show little hesitation approaching vessels and snorkelers.
