While snorkeling along the southwest coast of Hawaii's big island, a few Hawaiian spinner dolphins graced my camera lens at a 50-foot depth just as I was ascending from a longer free-dive. Spinner dolphins in Hawaii use the coastal sandy-bottomed bays for rest during the daylight hours and they go offshore around dusk and feed at night when their prey vertically migrates to the surface from the deeper waters.
