It was a cloudy, rainy day--not one this photographer enjoys--but at the last minute I decided to go on my friend's whale watch boat. An overall boring trip became spectacular when I saw a splash far off in the distance. The captain decided to go to the area and when we arrived we saw this female transient (mammal eating) killer whale delivering the final and fatal of two blows to a Pacific White-sided dolphin. The dolphin was cut away from its pod by three killer whales (two adults and one juvenile) and swiftly became lunch--while all of the passengers on the boat lost any appetite to eat ours!
